![]() ![]() ![]() (January) Gamelia celebrated the marriage of Zeus and Hera (MINOR) Anthesterion (February) The Anthesteria, or festival of the flowers, was a festival. I don't know how to repay her for such a precious gift. epithets were often treated as separate gods and almost all gods had localized variants e.g Hera Alexandros (Sision), Aphrodite Ariea (Sparta, cythera etc), Demeter the black (Archadia). She taught me what it feels like to truly have one. She showed me what a true mother looks like. She is loving, caring, sweet and strict when she needs to be. or perhaps DID have one but they weren't exactly. She is not a strict mother, she is not a neglectful one either. She is our protector in the way our mothers are. When I say that the title Alexandros fits her well, I mean it fits her PERFECTLY. and in that moment I felt her warm, motherly nature, but most of all I felt how caring and protective she is. Then I felt her energy for the first time. It's like the things she stood for were things that I didn't care for. The etymology of the name Hera has many theories. In ancient times she was worshiped at many different locations in Greece. She is also known as the goddess of marriage, motherhood, fertility, protection, war, law, justice, and the underworld. I've never had a good or "safe" mother figure before either. The Greek Goddess Hera is the queen and wife of Zeus, king of gods and lord of heaven. Relationships with Hera were always complicated. Each year Hera would bathe in a spring called Kanathos near Korinth where the waters of the spring restored her youth and virginity. she was even more beautiful than the goddess of love, Aphrodite. I'm not the most feminine of people, I don't want kids or a big family. Hera was without doubt the most beautiful goddess. I mean, when she reached out to me, the idea of working with her scared me. ![]() When I first learned of this epithet, I saw beauty in it. The ancient greeks knew that Hera was on their side, they even built a temple in honour of Hera Alexandros. In the Iliad, for instance, she distracts Zeus by using Aphrodite's powers of desire to lure him in, then convinces sleep to overtake him so that Poseidon can come to the aid of the Achaens during the Trojan War. Often she would use her quick wit to trick Zeus, in order to keep him from interfering in the affairs of men. Hera got this epithet because she was sometimes the only figure who was capable of protecting men from Zeus. She might've been the queen of the greek pantheon, but she is a protective mother of us all. Hera is a mother and she has always shown a great care for the humankind. She was very vengeful and sometimes even cruel, however a lot of us know, in reality, she is not those things. In mythology, Hera is remembered by her more temperamental side. Ironically enough, the origin of this particular name comes from a Greek goddess' title, Hera. like Alexander the Great, Alexander Hamilton and Alexander Graham Bell. I mean, throughout history, we've had a few great Alexanders. In the end, Zeus gives way and sends Athena. You've probably heard of the name 'Alexander'. But Hera, who has invested much in the Achaean cause, wants nothing less than the complete destruction of Troy. ![]()
